Application of Product

Measure the tile thickness and approximate mortar depth making sure that the profile will provide proper protection; the upper edge of the profile must always be at the same height or lower than the adjacent covering edges. Check the profile for damage – use only undamaged profiles. Use suitable clamps, saws or cutting devices as well as personal protective equipment for cutting and deburring the profile. Tools that have already been used for other metals must no longer be used for stainless steel. Cutting tools must be free of iron, chlorine and sulphur.

Fit PROBASIC down over the arranged step. If you are using the  with the aluminum and PVC model, make sure the PVC face edge cover  is on the profile. Apply enough of your setting material over the stair or the underside of the profile so that complete bedding is achieved between the stair and the underside of the profile. If the profile does not align evenly with the stair, too much setting material has been used.

Apply setting material on top of the profile's fitting strip, covering it completely. Next, lay the floor covering material on the stair surface and make sure that it is completely embedded in the setting material.

If the surface as a whole has a joint pattern narrower than 2 mm, the joint to the profile can be formed to match the joint width. Make sure that the joint between the floor covering and the profile is completely filled with grout. Butting up step profiles should be with a gap of 3 mm. Once the setting material has cured, apply caulk to this gap. Avoid dividing into sections if possible.

Store in a cool dry area.  Protect from damage that may bend or twist the profile.

Product Maintenance

Use TileLab Grout and Tile Cleaner or Aqua Mix Concentrated Stone and Tile Cleaner and a sponge or soft cleaning cloth to clean the surface of the profile. Do not use abrasive cleaners, as they will scratch the surface.
